CCUS
CO₂ Solutions Covering the Natural Gas Value Chain
With over 45 years of experience and 150+ CO₂ handling projects, Enerflex delivers efficient and cost-effective solutions that drive success.

How Does CCUS Work?
Carbon Capture Utilization & Storage (CCUS) technologies capture CO₂ emissions either directly from industrial sources or the atmosphere. Once captured, the CO₂ is transported via pipelines or other systems to be either safely stored deep underground in geological formations or repurposed into valuable industrial products.
Why Does CCUS Matter?
For decades, carbon capture has been integral to improving natural gas quality. Today, advancements in CCUS technology enable us to not only sequester CO₂ indefinitely but also explore ways to convert it into marketable products.

Custom CCUS Solutions
We deliver tailored solutions designed to meet your project’s unique requirements. These scalable, cost-effective systems are optimized for your CO₂ flow rates, environmental conditions and decarbonization goals.

Pre-Engineered CCUS Solutions
Modular, pre-engineered systems are perfect for fast deployment and cost savings. These proven designs are optimized for a range of CO₂ flow rates and can be upgraded to meet specific project requirements, ensuring reliable, efficient performance.
Our CCUS Systems
CX-100 System
- For small CO₂ flow rates, a single reciprocating compressor pressurizes CO₂ from the source to the necessary pressure
- Open-loop JT refrigeration ensures CO2 dehydration to meet water specifications for pipelines or wells
- Entire system is modularized into a single compact unit for efficient deployment

CX-200 System
- Higher CO₂ flow rates require additional units, achieved by adding more reciprocating compressors or using low-pressure blowers or screw compressors
- Scalable expansion combines multiple boosters and reciprocating compressors to handle significant CO₂ flow rates
- Systems are divided into multiple modules with cost-effective cooling solutions and a centralized TEG dehydration system
CX-300 System
- Centrifugal compressors are often more cost-effective at larger scales due to efficiency advantages, reduced module count, and lower maintenance and downtime
- Centrifugal machinery in a single compressor casing minimizes footprint and overall cost

We provide end-to-end CO₂ solutions, covering every stage of the value chain—from capture and transport to use and storage

Case Study
Zero Carbon Capture and Sequestration Facility

Challenge:
A client partner in North Texas required innovative solutions to permanently sequester 175,000 metric tons of CO₂ annually. The project aimed to reduce emissions from a natural gas processing plant and nearby operations.
Solution:
We designed, engineered and manufactured carbon capture equipment, including a CO₂ compression train with dehydration technology. The system compresses CO₂ from 15 psig to 1800 psig for permanent underground storage. We also managed the seamless installation of all components, ensuring reliable, efficient operations.
Outcome:
This pioneering facility became one of the first in the region to permanently sequester CO₂ in a Class II well, advancing sustainability and reducing emissions associated with natural gas production.
